Washington County, TN – More places across the nation are taking extra steps to protect against a carbon monoxide leak.
The Washington County, Tennessee jail is now adding carbon monoxide detectors after some inmates were sickened in June by a leak from a faulty water heater.
The Washington County Tennessee jail is taking steps to make sure the inmates and staff have one less thing to worry about. We’re told the new system will help alert staff quickly if it happens again.
Washington County Sheriff Ed Graybeal tells us, “It’s hooked in with the fire alarms, so it will go directly to central. Somebody sits there all the time, so if there is a leak or something that happens, they will know about it immediately.”
The system is expected to cost the sheriff’s department about $7,000 to install.
