College Park, MD – Students had to evacuate “Terrapin Row” on the University of Maryland Campus Monday after firefighters were alerted to a carbon monoxide leak in the area, according to a report.

The university’s student-run newspaper The Diamondback reported that at around 11 a.m. on Monday, the Prince George’s County Fire Department responded to a report of an alarm sounding at 4300 Hartwick Road, the location of the new student housing development known as Terrapin Row.

Residents of Building A were asked to evacuate when firefighters found a carbon monoxide leak in the building. They later determined that contractors doing work in the building with gasoline-powered equipment were causing the high readings, which reached 35 PPM, an unhealthy level, according to the report.
