Toledo, OH – Toledo police are investigating the death of a 1-year-old girl after she was believed to be exposed to carbon monoxide.
Toledo Fire and EMS crews responded to the 4000 block of Fairview on a report of an unconscious person around 4:45 p.m. Wednesday.
Upon arrival, crews found Somyla Madison on the porch and began treating her. Ms. Madison’s two children, ages 8-years-old and 1-year-old, were already being transported to Mercy St. Vincent medical center.
The 1-year-old was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
Investigators tell 13abc they believe the mother and two children were exposed to carbon monoxide from the family’s vehicle. An autopsy on the toddler is being performed by the Lucas County Coroner to determine the cause of death.
