Mooresville, NC – Three police officers and three residents were hospitalized with carbon monoxide poisoning Thursday morning after being exposed to the gas at a home in the 100 block of Cinebar Road, off N.C. 115 in Mooresville, town officials said.
Two of the residents have life threatening conditions, while the conditions of the others are not considered life threatening, officials said.
All were taken to Lake Norman Regional Medical Center in Mooresville.
The two female residents with life threatening conditions were later transferred to another, unnamed hospital for additional treatment, the town said in a news release.
A fourth Mooresville police officer also was treated at Lake Norman Regional Medical and was released, town officials said.
At 7:42 a.m., Mooresville police responded to an unknown trouble call at the home, according to the news release. Officers found a male outside the home and two females inside. The male also was admitted to Lake Norman Regional.
While rescuing the females, fire and police personnel noticed a distinct smell in the house and the victims displaying signs of carbon monoxide exposure, according to the release.
A car was found running in the garage with the door closed, the release said.
Town officials haven’t released the names and ages of the injured.
