Port Washington, OH – A natural gas explosion caused the explosion that destroyed a home in the Port Washington area Jan. 14, according to a spokesman for the Division of State Fire Marshal of the Ohio Department of Commerce.
The exact cause, however, remains undetermined at this time, according to Brian Bohnert, public information officer for the Ohio Department of Commerce.
The two-story wood frame house, built in 1884, was at 1804 Fillman Bottom Road SW.
A woman who lived in the house was treated at an area hospital for facial injuries. She and two dogs left the house before the explosion.
John Bourne, chief of the Delaware Valley Joint Fire District in Port Washington, previous said firefighters arrived at the scene to find the house on fire, with debris from the explosion up to 300 feet away.
