Royal Oak, MI – It’s business as usual for a downtown Royal Oak Starbucks after a carbon monoxide leak forced its evacuation and closure for several hours on Monday. The leak is believed to have been caused by a construction crew working in the basement of the building, according to a CBS Detroit report.
Two other businesses in the building, which is located at the corner of Third and Main streets, Burn Rubber and Ameristar, were also evacuated, WXYZ-TV reported. In a Facebook post, the Royal Oak Fire Department said all of the businesses were cleared to reopen at about 7:30 p.m. Monday evening.
Several patients were evaluated for CO exposure with one patient being transported to the hospital, the department wrote in the post. The source of the CO was located and all carbon monoxide was cleared from the buildings. All affected businesses have been reopened.
