Bismark, ND – Eight people, including four children, were treated after high levels of carbon monoxide were found in the pool area of the Holiday Inn Express.
The Bismarck Fire Department responded around 5:25 pm following a report that several children were feeling ill and dizzy in the pool area.
When fire crews arrived they tested the air and got an immediate alarm for high carbon monoxide. Hotel workers had already evacuated the six people from the pool area before crews arrived.
The high levels were confined to the pool area and it appears a boiler in an adjoining room is suspected as the source. It was shut down and the area ventilated.
The four children and two adults were taken to area hospitals for further evaluation. Two hotel employees were also taken as a precaution after they had assisted guests in the area.
