Marion, PA – MARION >> A second woman injured in an explosion and house fire in Marion last month has passed away, a hospital spokesperson said on Sunday.
Naja N. George, 23, had been taken to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center in Baltimore after police and firefighters responded to the catastrophic Aug. 28 fire. She died as a result of her injuries Friday evening, according to the hospital.
The fire and explosion, which occurred at 5302 Main St. about 10:21 p.m., also took the life of George’s mother, Marlena L. Campbell, 47, who died Sept. 4, according to Pennsylvania State Police, Chambersburg.
Police said at the time of Campbell’s death that the cause of the fire remained under investigation, but they had found no evidence to suggest foul play.
After the explosion, a portion of the residence caught fire. Police have said it is likely the explosion involved propane, which was located on the property in cylinders outside the home.
The propane entered the home and traveled to a boiler and water heater located in the basement, according to police.
An adult male and three children living in the home were not injured.
