Lewiston, ME – Firefighters evacuated more than 100 people from a building that houses Sparetime Recreation and two other businesses on Mollison Way for a carbon monoxide leak Tuesday morning, the Sun Journal reports.
More than 100 employees were forced to stand in the parking lot in 9-degree temperatures as firefighters worked to determine the cause of high carbon monoxide levels detected in the building, the report said, though one building employee suspected snow-clogged roof vents were to blame.
The building at 18 Mollison Way houses Carbonite, Merrimack River Medical Services and the Lewiston Sparetime Recreation, a bowling alley that also has locations in Hallowell and Waterville.
A Carbonite employee told the Sun Journal that an internal carbon monoxide alarm went off at around 9 a.m., which alerted the fire department.
