Morton County, SD – A man escaped serious injury Sunday morning following an explosion at his home near Solen.
A man had just walked out of the residence when it exploded, resulting in an injury to his arm. A Morton County Sheriff’s deputy responded to the scene after a call came in at about 6:30 a.m. and found the victim able to drive himself to meet the ambulance.
The residence was destroyed by fire and Flasher Fire worked to distinguish the blaze.
Two witnesses, the victim’s daughter and her friend, explained that her father had been out of the house earlier, but returned as he had forgotten something. Then when he exited the home, the house exploded.
The incident remains under investigation. Maxine Herr, PIO at Morton County, indicated that preliminary findings indicate a possible propane leak.
