Pittsburgh, PA – An explosion in a tailgating lot on Pittsburgh’s North Side Saturday night damaged nearly a dozen vehicles and sent one woman to a hospital, police said.
The unidentified woman tailgated with others in a lot near Federal Street and South Commons before the Pirates game, police said. The tailgaters placed propane tanks they used for grilling in a car before departing for the game.
The woman left the game before others in her group and returned to the car. When she lit a cigarette there, at least one of the propane tanks exploded, police said. Ten surrounding vehicles were damaged, though police couldn’t detail the extent.
Police said the woman went to Allegheny General Hospital for treatment and was in good condition.
