Portage, WI – A Portage police officer is expected to recover after suffering from carbon monoxide poisoning Sunday afternoon.
Portage Police say they responded to the 2500 block of Airport Road around 4:15 p.m. for reports of a 40-year-old man with dizziness and slurring his words.
When first responders arrived, they found the man unresponsive and heard carbon monoxide alarms going off.
While evacuating others inside, Portage Police say an officer was affected by the high levels and was taken to the hospital.
That officer will be okay, but police did not provide an update on the condition of the other man.
Residents of the affected townhouses were evacuated for at least two hours.
Police did not say what caused the carbon monoxide issue.
