Oradell, NJ – Police saved two residents’ lives and their dog who were found in a home filled with carbon monoxide where a gas leak was reported.
Police received a 911 call for an unconscious man at a home where the gas leak was, police said Saturday night.
Sgt. David Gangemi and Officer Glenn Zeszotarski found the man unconscious on the second floor; he was taken out of the home, police said. Oxygen was administered to the two people who live at the home and their dog, police said. They were taken to the hospital in stable condition, including the dog.
Fire officials said there were more than 700 parts per million of carbon monoxide inside the home. They said there were “numerous possible issues” with the home’s heating system. Fans were placed in the home to help vent the carbon monoxide fumes out.
“If it was not for the expedient efforts of Gangemi and Zeszotarski, the outcome could have been different,” police said.
