Hazard, KY – Everyone inside the First Federal Center at Hazard Community and Technical College had to exit the building Thursday due to carbon monoxide.
President of Hazard Community and Technical College, Steve Greiner, had the fire department test the levels after employees complained about headaches.
Greiner says he evacuated the building to be safe.
“The health and safety of our employees is our primary concern and we are fortunate where it was a time where we didn’t have classes in the buildings -we are in the middle of the summer.”
Fire Chief, Sam Stacy, told WYMT they found the leak and worked to fan all the carbon monoxide out of the building.
The building was reopened at 1:00 p.m. Thursday.
