Lewellen, NE — An investigation is underway after a house explosion in the Nebraska panhandle Tuesday evening.
Garden County Sheriff Michelle Quinn tells News Channel Nebraska one person was airlifted to the hospital with burn injuries after a house near the Village of Lewellen exploded.
According to Quinn, a resident of the home smelled gas and called a local propane company. The employee did not smell it at first, but when they went downstairs to continue investigating, authorities say that’s when the explosion occurred.
Two other people were home at the time and escaped uninjured.
The cause of the explosion is under investigation by the Nebraska State Fire Marshal’s Office. The house is a total loss.
