North Little Rock, AR – NORTH LITTLE ROCK (KATV) A natural gas leak is what is believed to have caused a North Little Rock house explosion on Haywood Street according to the assistant fire marshal. It happened shortly before 10:30 p.m. on Friday.
Eight adults were sent to the hospital, while six kids were cleared at the scene, but advised to follow up with a doctor according to authorities.
All 14 were inside of the home when it exploded and caught fire, and according to a police report KATV obtained, the current investigation reveals that a cigarette may have sparked the fire.
“It was a natural gas leak inside the residence, from a police statement, police were actually there before we got there, and actually talked to some of the victims in the house and one of them told him he stood up, lit a cigarette and the house exploded, said Captain David Wilson, NLR Assistant Fire Marshal.
