Anaconda, MT – An Anaconda woman, her son and his girlfriend had just stopped working at a vacant house they planned to rent when an apparent natural gas explosion destroyed the residence.
Donna Schrenker tells The Montana Standard (http://bit.ly/1Oeeaqe ) that she had been painting on Wednesday and at about 11:15 p.m. suggested they quit for the day. Two minutes later, just as Schrenker was opening the door of her pickup truck, the house exploded. The blast threw glass and debris and broke the windows of her vehicle and damaged surrounding homes.
Schrenker’s son and his girlfriend had just gotten into a pickup in an alley behind the house when it exploded.
The fire chief said the blast was caused by natural gas, but NorthWestern Energy spokeswoman Claudia Rapkoch says investigators haven’t found any leaks in the area and are still investigating.
