Morristown, VT – A man had just returned from a two-day trip when he said he opened his garage door using a remote, and his home exploded.

Crews were called to the Sterling Valley Road home around 3:45 p.m., Morrisville Fire Chief William Spear said.
The house must have been full of gas is all I can assume, he said. The first floor was burned right off when we got here.
The homeowner told investigators the explosion happened right after he activated his garage door opener, though an exact cause has not been determined. Investigators said there were multiple propane-fueled appliances inside the home.
The fire is not considered suspicious, they said.
Eerily, rescue crews said a drawing of the house ended up in the driveway. It was left virtually untouched.
Damage is estimated at $400,000.
Spear said the homeowner was treated for a headache.
No one else was hurt.
