Hamilton, MT – A number of inmates were ill after suffering from carbon monoxide poisoning, and maintenance staff at the Ravalli County Detention Center are trying to find what caused the leak, that happened on Sunday morning.

Inmates were complaining of headaches, nausea, and burning eyes. Those affected were moved to the library and were treated by medical staff.

Ravalli County Sheriff Chris Hoffman says propane was leaking from the boiler, and that the system has since been shutdown.

Two detention officers and one inmate were treated and released at Marcus Daly Memorial Hospital.
