Hays, KS – Law enforcement officials say carbon monoxide poisoning is to blame in the deaths of two people in Hays on Friday.

According to Hays Police Chief Don Scheibler, emergency personnel were called to the 700 block of East Sixth just before 1:30 p.m. Friday to check on two people.

When officers arrived, they found two people who had died inside the mobile home, he said.

Scheibler said a gas generator was found running inside the mobile home. The coroner has ruled both deaths accidental.

Because the deaths have been ruled accidental, officials have not released the names of the deceased.
