North Braddock, PA – All residents were accounted for after a reported explosion that peeled the entire front wall off a house Tuesday morning in North Braddock.
Heavy damage was visible in the front and rear of the home on Rebecca Avenue.
Dave Andrews, the borough’s code enforcement officer, happened to be around the block at the time of the explosion. He heard the noise and ran to the scene.
“I thought it was really loud fireworks,” Andrews said. “It was a little bit scary.”
Neighbors told Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 that they felt their homes shake just before the blast.
Three people who live in the house were able to get out through a back door and were uninjured.
Peoples Natural Gas workers and the Allegheny County fire marshal remain at the scene and will try to determine what caused the explosion.
The code officer said a new gas meter had recently been installed at the house.
