Asheville, NC – A hotel near the Asheville Regional Airport was evacuated early Friday morning because of high levels of carbon monoxide.

Dispatchers tell us first responders were called to the Clarion Inn off Airport Road around 2:15 a.m.

Kelley Klope with Asheville Fire Department said hotel staff was using gasoline-powered pressure washers outside. The hotel’s HVAC system sucked the carbon monoxide into the building, causing high-levels of the poisonous gas to be detected.

Firefighters evacuated the hotel as they ventilated the building. No injuries were reported. Crews remained on the scene for several hours to make sure the gas was cleared.
