Clay, NY – High carbon monoxide levels forced the evacuation of a building at Breckenridge Apartments in Clay Sunday morning.

The Moyers Corners Fire Department responded to 4320 Arlington Circle off Candlelight Lane shortly after 10 a.m. after receiving a report that two apartment residents were feeling ill and that a carbon monoxide detector was going off.

Firefighters reported that carbon monoxide levels in Building 1 at the complex were “off the chart” and ordered the building evacuated while they looked for the source of the leak. Three ambulances were dispatched to the scene.

Gas service to the building was shut off, but fire officials reported that carbon monoxide levels were still very high in the building. A National Grid crew was called to the scene.
