Hampshire, IL – The Hampshire Fire Department responded to high levels of carbon monoxide at RPS Products Inc., at 8:30 a.m. on Monday.

About 60 people were evacuated from the building, 281 Keyes Avenue in Hampshire, and two people were treated at the scene, according to Hampshire Deputy Fire Chief Trevor Herrmann.

“The leak was determined to be from a hole in a heater ventilation hose,” Herrmann said. “The heater was shut off, and the building was ventilated with employees returning to work at 10:30 a.m.”

RPS Products Inc., also known as BestAir, produces humidification wicks, air cleaning filters, vacuum products and other accessories, according to its website.
