Cable, MN – A gas leak caused a house explosion on South Lake Owen Drive north of Cable on June 14 that killed 74-year-old Joyce Reidl and injured her husband Raymond Reidl, the Bayfield County Sheriff’s Office announced July 31.
Authorities said an investigation revealed the home’s heating system, supplied from an outdoor liquid propane tank, was a factor.
Mr. Reidl, who is still recovering from his injuries, told investigators that he had discovered a mechanical problem with the home’s heating system and smelled propane inside the basement shortly before the explosion occurred.
