Wise County, TX – A home near Bridgeport was destroyed Friday morning in an explosion possibly caused by a faulty propane tank.
No injuries were reported.
Denis Shope, who owns the lakefront home, says a guest house next to the main house was destroyed and a propane leak to the stove is probably to blame for the explosion.
No one lives in the guest house. Shope said it’s designated for “overflow” when family members come to the lake. Shope lives in Grand Prairie.
Some windows were blown out on the main house. Two boats were also destroyed in the garage.
Investigators are not sure what time the explosion occurred because there are no neighbors that live close to the home near Lake Bridgeport.
A neighbor was driving by the home Friday morning when they saw the aftermath of the explosion.
“This is going to be a big cleanup,” Shope said.
Fire crews were still on the scene investigating Friday afternoon.
