Raritan Township, NJ – A natural gas explosion at a house on Old York Road rocked the neighborhood this morning.

No injuries resulted from the explosion and subsequent fire at 243 Old York Road, between Voorhees Corner and Reaville.

Multiple fire companies responded to the alarm. Fire damage to the house was mainly in the basement and garage, Chief Steve Wetter of the Raritan Township Fire Company reported. Glass in many windows was blown out by the blast.

The explosion took place around 10 a.m. and firefighters were still on the scene 90 minutes later, making sure all the fire was extinguished and helping the homeowners salvage possessions, the chief said.

Raritan Township police will be releasing information on the incident this afternoon.
