Anchorage, AK – ANCHORAGE –

A Fairbanks man died early Sunday of apparent carbon-monoxide poisoning, after Alaska State Troopers said he was found in a Summit Lake cabin’s generator shed surrounded by toxic fumes.

An AST dispatch on the incident says that troopers received a call requesting medical attention for 58-year-old Daniel Whitlow at about 11:30 p.m. Saturday.

“Troopers responded to (the) cabin and found Whitlow’s wife and a female family friend in a generator shed performing CPR on Whitlow,” troopers wrote. “Troopers removed Whitlow and the two women from the shed due to nauseous fumes, suspected to be carbon monoxide, inside the shed.”

Whitlow was pronounced dead at about 2 a.m. Sunday, according to AST. Delta medics treated the women for possible exposure to carbon monoxide.

Whitlow’s next of kin have been notified, and no foul play is suspected in his death. An autopsy will be performed on Whitlow by the state medical examiner’s office to determine how he died.
