Detroit, MI- An apartment building in Wixom was evacuated Thursday evening after an explosion.Investigators from the Oakland County Sheriff’s Department and Consumer’s Energy were called to the Stoneridge Apartments on Pontiac Trail west of Wixom Road.
Wixom police say there was one minor injury reported.The victim was treated and released.
Residents who live near the apartment building, including WWJ employee Tracey Griggs, said windows in at least three apartments were blown out and part of the brick wall fell.Debris flew into the parking lot, although early indications are no vehicles were damaged.
Griggs said she didn’t see any fire hoses extended shortly after the blast, however police tape was strung around the building.
An investigation is ongoing.Early indications are the explosion may have been caused by a gas line leak.
