Clare County, MI – An explosion destroyed a Clare County cabin.

Thankfully, no one was at the cabin at the time.

The explosion startled neighbors on Judy Drive, near Harrison, late Wednesday night.

The home was a seasonal cabin, so the owners are not in the area.

Neighbors say it sounded like sticks of dynamite going off before an orange glow filled their window.

The Harrison fire chief says the owners do have insurance on the home.

He says when his fire crews showed up the home was already engulfed in flames.

“We didn’t have a lot to work, it was on the ground already. We’re looking at causes now. There was a smell of propane in the air when we arrived. The investigator’s going to look at and try to figure out what’s going on here,” said Chief Chris Damvelt.
