Berkeley Heights, NJ – Elevated carbon monoxide readings inside the Berkeley Heights Town Hall and Police Department have caused the buildings to close Wednesday, Berkeley Heights Police report.

“The source has been identified as a UPS backup system that sustained damage in Monday night’s storm after a lightning strike at Town Hall,” police report.

Berkeley Heights Fire, New Providence Fire and Union County Hazmat are on scene tending to the situation.

No injuries have been reported and there have been no interruptions in police services.
