Plymouth, MA- Firefighters responded to dozens of calls for carbon monoxide poisonings in the wake of the blizzard.

Fire Chief Ed Bradley said his department received 51 separate carbon monoxide calls since Friday night. None of the incidents resulted in any fatalities, but several people were hospitalized for treatment.

Six people were treated at Jordan Hospital after an unspecified incident on Worrall Road.

An elderly couple on White Oak Drive was also hospitalized after firefighters found high levels of carbon monoxide in their home. Police said the couple had been running a generator in their garage.

Police Chief Michael Botieri said a 4-year-old girl was unconscious when her mother took her to the hospital from a home on South Pond Road.

Others in the house reported dizziness and headches. The family was staying with relatives, who were cooking on a charcoal grill just outside of the basement. The 4-year-old was being treated with oxygen at the hospital and was expected to survive.

Bradley said some people were exposed to carbon monoxide after trying to operate generators in garages or on decks. Some were affected even after opening windows and doors just enough to allow electric cords to get into the house.
