New Haven, CT – The deaths of two people, including a New Fairfield woman, found inside a running car at a New Haven parking garage appear to have been accidental — possibly caused by carbon monoxide, police said.
Michael Longo Jr., 28, of Monroe, and Amy Nicole Nickerson, 19, of New Fairfield, were found Sunday morning inside a black Volkswagen Jetta on the first level of a garage on Orchard Street in New Haven, according to a news release from the New Haven Police Department.
The two had been handing out fliers Saturday and promoting music events at Toad’s Place, a New Haven nightclub and music venue, according to Nickerson’s father.
“She told me she was having car problems and staying in New Haven,” Bill Nickerson said. “That was the last I spoke to her.”
Nickerson was a star soccer player at New Fairfield High School, where she graduated in 2013.
In addition to volunteering at the Dorothy Day Hospitality House in Danbury, She was joining the Peace Corps.
