South Hero, VT – A construction worker on a crew at Camp Ta-Kum-Ta was overcome by carbon monoxide Tuesday morning and taken to the hospital to get checked out.

It happened at the South Hero camp for kids with cancer at about 10 a.m. Construction crews are there working on a project.

The fire chief says a worker went into a garage-style building that is under construction there and found a co-worker unconscious. The worker dragged the sick person out of the building and called for help. Both people were taken to the hospital to be checked out.

Fire officials say they found elevated levels of carbon monoxide in the building and aired it out but it’s not yet clear where the CO came from.

The names of the construction workers were not released and we don’t know their condition.
