Lebanon, OR – Two people suffered serious burn injuries when a lit cigarette sparked a propane explosion inside a motor home, Lebanon Fire District officials said.

Firefighters called out a second alarm Monday evening when they started to put out the motor home, which was engulfed in flames.

Emergency crews took two people to the hospital. A man suffered critical burn injuries while a woman’s wounds were deemed “serious.”

According to officials, the pair had unsuccessfully tried to light the furnace in the motor home, which caused a buildup of propane in the vehicle.

Firefighters put out the fire before it could spread to a nearby structure.
