Carter County, TN – A preliminary investigation shows two Carter County, Tennessee men died from carbon monoxide poisoning inside their home.
Sheriff Dexter Lunceford reported friends and family members found the bodies of Floyd Ayers, 71, and his son David Ayers, 50, in the same room at the dwelling located in the 170 block of Norman Joines Road in Elizabethton just after 5 p.m. on Wednesday.
The home reportedly had no electric service and the pair had been using a gas generator inside for power. The fumes from the machine caused their deaths, investigators said.
Foul play is not suspected and the bodies were taken to the ETSU Quillen College of Medicine for an autopsy, Lunceford said.
