Bellingham, WA – An elderly couple was found dead Wednesday evening inside their rural Whatcom County home.
One of the couple’s relatives went to their home, located about five miles north of Bellingham, Tuesday evening after not hearing from them for several days, according to Sgt. Kevin Moyes with the Whatcom County sheriff’s office.
The relative found the couple, who were in their 70s, dead inside and called the police.
Deputies and medics arrived at the home soon after. Moyes said the bodies showed no signs of trauma and detectives do not suspect foul play.
The couple reportedly lost power during Saturday’s wind storm and had been using a gas generator.
“(We’re) leaning toward carbon monoxide poisoning as the cause of death, but we’re waiting for the medical examiner to do an autopsy tomorrow morning,”Moyes said.
