Vernon, CT – Vernon Police and emergency crews found a woman unconscious Sunday afternoon, as a result of exposure to high levels of carbon monoxide. Two police officers were exposed to the fumes while trying to rescue her and were sent to the hospital.
Vernon Police and Fire Departments responded to a residence on Grier Road around 3:30 pm.
Officials found an adult woman inside the residence unconscious.
Emergency personnel performed aid to the woman. Ambulance transported her to Hartford Hospital.
She is expected to survive, according to officials.
Police have determined that this was an intentional act by the woman, based on information gathered at the scene.
Two police officers were exposed to the carbon monoxide while rescuing the woman. They were treated at the scene and taken to Rockville Hospital for evaluation.
The officers are expected to be released from the hospital soon.
