San Antonio, TX – SAN ANTONIO – A carbon monoxide scare prompted the evacuation of a North Bexar County apartment complex Wednesday night.

Officials say around 9 o’clock several people at the Canyon Spring Apartment Homes in the 2400 block of Wilderness Oak become concerned about the air quality and called the fire department.

Authorities say a carpet cleaning van was parked too close to one of the buildings and may have been releasing carbon monoxide fumes that they believe got inside the building.

Hazmat crews evacuated about eight floors and 16 apartment units.Windows and doors to the units were opened and carbon monoxide monitors were brought in.

Residents were not allowed to go back into the homes until 1a.m. Thursday morning.No injuries were reported.
