Green Bay, WI – A medical call led to the accidental discovery of dangerous carbon monoxide in a Green Bay office building Tuesday morning.
An ambulance crew responded to a medical call at 1901 South Webster Avenue, when the carbon monoxide alarm in their medical bag sounded.
The CO alarm, which was just recently put in the medical bag, warned of elevated levels of carbon monoxide.
About 20 people in the building were evacuated.
It took about three hours to discover the source of the deadly gas — a water heater in the basement wasn’t ventilating properly — and to ventilate the building.
Everyone was eventually allowed back inside.
The Green Bay Metro Fire Department says the medical call was “most likely unrelated” to the CO leak.
