Lakewood, NJ – LAKEWOOD Eleven people had to be evacuated from a home here Monday night and four were sent to the hospital after carbon monoxide apparently sickened them, police said.
Firefighters, police and emergency medical personnel responded to 316 Ocean Avenue at 9:52 p.m., according to police Lt. Reginald Dalton.
A total of 11 people live at that residence and were relocated, Dalton said.
Four of the people were taken to Kimball Medical Center in Lakewood, he said.
Their names and conditions were not available, he said.
Dalton said emergency responders got the call from residents at the house because their CO alarm was going off and people were feeling sick.”
The house was deemed uninhabitable, Dalton said.
There were levels of CO in the house, he said.
He said the township’s inspections officials will investigate the cause of the incident.
Dalton said residents went to stay with relatives on Monday night.
