Gold Bar, WA- The Washington State Fire Marshall’s office is investigating to determine the cause of an explosion and fire Monday that destroyed a mobile home in Gold Bar, Washington.

The incident happened just after 12 noon Monday at Gold Bar Nature Trails, a private 1200 member camping club on 273 acres of land located at 16411 May Creek Road.

By the time fire units from the Gold Bar fire station arrived the mobile home was fully involved in flames and a total loss.

One person was injured, a woman who was knocked down by the force of the blast and sustained a cut lip. Fire officials say she was treated at the scene.

Damage to the single-wide mobile home was placed at $40,000.

The blast sent pieces of debris flying in all directions with some of it imbedding in trees up to 30 miles away.

The owners of the trailer were not there when the blast occurred.

Fire officials said foul play was not suspected and that a blast resulting from a propane tank connected to the trailer could have been the source of the blast.

A number of trailers, mobile homes and cabins in the upper Sky Valley use propane tanks either as a primary or back up source of energy for heat, cooking and lights.
