Derry Township, PA – A 63-year-old woman died in a Derry Township home this weekend, which crews discovered when they went to her home to investigate a carbon monoxide leak.

Around 10:35 p.m., the Hershey Volunteer Fire Department responded to a home in the first block of Carousel Circle, Hershey, for an odor investigation. HVFD called Derry Township Police to the scene.

Fire personnel determined the odor was coming from a source “that could be associated with carbon monoxide,” and tried knocking at the door.

When they got no answer, crews forced their way into the home and found the unconscious woman in a bedroom on the second floor.

Penn State Life Lion EMS attempted to revive the woman, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police and the Dauphin County Coroner’s Office are investigating the circumstances that led to a large amount of carbon monoxide gas getting into the residence.

The woman is not being identified by police, pending notification to the family.
