Rochester Hill, MI – Deputies and the City of Rochester Hills Fire Department responded to multiple reports of an explosion and subsequent fire in the 50 block of Bobolink Street.Upon arrival, there were several mobile homes involved in the fire with one sustaining major structural damage.A Consumers Energy employee was on the scene and stated that he was replacing a gas meter when a gas line suddenly broke.Natural gas was spewing against the residence and approximately five minutes later the back of the mobile home exploded.The Rochester Hills Fire Department extinguished the fire and Consumers Energy shut off the gas to the affected mobile homes.
The owner of the mobile home was at work and not at home at the time of the incident.
