Staten Island, NY – Thirty people from nine businesses along a Tottenville commercial strip were evacuated by city firefighters (FDNY) Saturday morning after a carbon monoxide alarm sounded, according to an FDNY spokesman.

About 60 firefighters evacuated all occupants of the nine businesses along the Amboy Road commercial strip nearby Sprague Avenue in Tottenville.

No injuries were reported, according to the FDNY spokesman.

Firefighters received a call at 9:30 a.m. about a carbon monoxide alarm at 7315 Amboy Rd., the spokesman said. The source of the incident was reported to be a furnace at one the businesses, said the spokesman.

It was unclear which business set off the carbon monoxide alarm at the time the story was written.

Firefighters were still on the scene at 11:45 a.m. and occupants of the businesseswere not yet able to return to their storefronts.
