San Tan Valley, AZ – Two young girls and their mother were taken to the hospital Saturday morning after after a case of carbon monoxide poisoning.
Fire and police officials said crews were called to a San Tan Valley home around 7 a.m. and found the girls, 4 and 8, with signs of carbon monoxide poisoning, along with their 29-year-old mother.
The three were taken to a local hospital in stable condition.
A 79-year-old woman in the home was also exposed to the gas but refused treatment and stayed at the home.
The Pinal County Sheriff’s Office was called in to investigate.
According to preliminary information, it appears the mother left a car running in the garage when she got home around midnight Saturday morning.
The girls’ uncle, who lives in the house, noticed the situation and turned off the car, checked the kids and opened the windows before leaving for work, police said.
The mother woke later, noticed the girls seemed sick and called 911.
PCSO is investigating the situation and has not charged anyone.
