Palm Desert, CA – Unsafe levels of carbon monoxide were discovered at a senior living facility in Palm Desert Saturday.
It was reported at 10:37 a.m. at the Segovia Senior Living at 39905 Via Scena.
Arriving firefighters found that the carbon monoxide levels in the building were above average, Riverside County Fire Department officials said.
The source was exhaust from a gasoline engine, officials said. Firefighters ventilated the building and requested a hazmat team. Nobody was injured.
Carbon monoxide is an exhaust gas that can displace oxygen when it fills a room, causing persons inside to drift asleep and then die.
