Pleasant Grove, TX – A woman and her grandson made it out safely after their house exploded Monday evening in the Pleasant Grove area of southeast Dallas, authorities said.

A witness called at about 7:53 p.m. and said a house near the intersection of Memory Lane and Eloise Street had “just exploded,” according to Dallas Fire officials. Another caller said there was no fire but that part of the house was missing.

Urban search and rescue teams were dispatched to assist at the scene, but they said the two people who live in the home got out safely. Both were later taken to a hospital for precautionary reasons, officials said.

Jennifer Altieri, a spokeswoman for Atmos Energy Corp., which provides natural gas to residential customers, says her company is working with local authorities to determine what caused the blast.

Altieri says work crews would remain at the scene Monday night to “perform a thorough and complete investigation of our system.”
