Hudson, MA – A gas-powered forklift used without proper ventilation led to the hospitalization of one person Tuesday evening.

Hudson firefighters were called to 75 River Road at 7:08 p.m. where they found a person, whose age and gender was not given by Hudson police, suffering severe carbon monoxide poisoning. The patient was taken by medical helicopter to a hyperbaric chamber at a Boston hospital.

Firefighters checked the building with air monitoring equipment and found very high levels of carbon monoxide. Ventilation fans were used to force fresh air into the building clearing the carbon monoxide.

Additional firefighters set up a landing zone at the Presentation of Mary School on Lowell Road where the patient was transferred onto the helicopter.
