Garden City, KS – Seven people are being treated for carbon monoxide poisoning after a generator was poorly installed in a recreational vehicle.

Garden City emergency crews were called to the 1600 block of Taylor Plaza around 6 p.m. Saturday. They arrived to find several people standing outside a parked RV.

Investigators said the owner purchased the RV in Texas to transport his family and band members around the country. The owner had purchased a generator to operate the heating and cooling systems within the RV, but the exhaust was not properly ventilated to the RV’s exterior. This cause carbon monoxide to be released into the cabin.

Authorities also found several violations with the RV.

Seven people were taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for carbon monoxide poisoning. They have since been released.
